Drive-Up Storage sends account-related (non-marketing) text messages to self-storage tenants who opt in. Tenants opt in in one of two ways, described below. In both methods the SMS consent checkbox is optional, unchecked by default, and separate from the rental agreement signature. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of renting a unit. If the box is not checked, no text messages are sent.
This is the exact optional SMS consent checkbox tenants see when entering their mobile number. It is unchecked by default and is not required to rent.
Location: https://www.drive-upstorage.com/checkout-details/ — the Personal Information step after the customer chooses a facility and unit. Next to the Mobile number field is an optional "SMS OPT IN" checkbox with this exact text:

The rental agreement includes an optional SMS consent checkbox directly under the phone number fields. The tenant checks the box personally; staff never check it on the tenant's behalf. The exact text on the form:
SMS Consent (optional): I agree to receive account notification text messages from Drive-Up Storage at the cell phone number above, such as payment reminders, past-due and lien notices, gate/access alerts, and account updates. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of rental.
